Which signing is the best?
Today we saw numerous signing by both the UFC and Strikeforce as Melvin Manoef, Renzo Gracie and KJ Noons all signed. Strikeforce was able to snag two of them in Melvin Manoef and KJ Noons. The UFC finally signed Renzo Gracie as rumors of the signing have been swirling for weeks. With three signings in one day between the big two promotions I pose the question which signing is the best?
Melvin Manhoef (23-6-1) is a pure aggressive striker with little to no ground game. He has fought at both Middleweight and Light Heavyweightwe are unsure where he would fight. Chances are he’ll fight at Middleweight because he’s only 5′-8 and is usually the smaller fighter at Light Heavyweight. I like the signing by Strikeforce as Manhoef is a star and will put on some good fights but I do not see he competing for a title.
KJ Noons (7-2) has been away from MMA for 18 months but has kept busy going 4-1 in his boxing career. Noons most recently fought in the EliteXC where he went 3-1 and made a name for himself in defeating Nick Diaz for the 160lbs Title. Diaz is also in Strikeforce so a long awaited rematch would be a great first fight for Noons. Though Lightweight fights with current champ Josh Thomson or former champ Gilbert Melendez would also be good.
Renzo Gracie (13-6-1) is a Jui-Jitsu master, obviously since he’s a Gracie. At 42 he is easily past his prime and has not fought since 2007 where he defeated Frank Shamrock by DQ in the EliteXC. A rumored fight between him and Matt Hughes has recently been floating around which would actually make sense. He too will not be making any title runs but having a Gracie fighting for you is not a bad thing, just would have been nice if it was like 10 years ago.
Noons out of the three will have the most meaningful fights and is also the only one that has a real title chance making his signing the most significant. What do you think?

I agree KJ is exciting and has a great shot at a title in Strikeforce. That is if he can get through Diaz a second time which will be no small feat in my opinion. Nick is one of the top in the world in my opinion – even if he likes to smoke too much weed! If Diaz stays on top of his game like he has I don’t see him losing again in Strikeforce.
But Noons can take everyone else that they through at him I think. He is fun to watch!
