The Warriors Bond

When it comes to having a strong bond with this Nations heroes and professional sports I believe there is no better relationship than the one between the Ultimate Fighting Championship and the United States military. Two different aspects of life, but the warrior spirit in common, makes for a unique and special bond and a growing partnership with limitless possibilities. Some like Randy Couture, Brian Stann, Tim Creduer, and Brandon Vera share that bond, for they were ex service members themselves. The UFC has had two “Fight for the troops” cards UFN 7 and UFN 16, which seemed to showcase fighters giving it all in some of the most brutal, injury causing fights in the UFC’s past. They fought their hearts out, knowing it was for a great cause.
Ultimate Fight Night 7 was featured at MCAS Miramar, a marine base in San Diego California. The place was packed full of Marines and their families and just five seats were available to the public by auction, with all of the proceeds going to military family relief funds. Ultimate fight night 16 raised over four million dollars in just a 3 hour broadcast, benefiting the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, for service members returning from combat with traumatic brain injuries and distress. Along with these events, Dana White, Tito Ortiz, Andrei Arlovski, Ryan Bader, Carlos Condit, Rich Franklin, Chuck Liddell, and Randy Couture have all Visited the troops for moral events, through the USO, both in the US, and overseas in combat zones. Dana White loves controversy, but he is not always as bad as people proclaim him to be. He has done very honorable actions for service members worldwide and I definitely look forward to the next fight for the troop’s card, we all know it’s going to deliver.
