TUF alums to fight at UFC on Versus 2

Ultimate Fighter alums DaMarques Johnson and Matt Riddle are rumored to face each other on the next UFC on Versus event in Salt Lake City on August 1st. TUF season 9 fighter DaMarques Johnson 11-7 (2-1 UFC) who trains at Elite performance in Utah among fighters like Jeremy horn and Joe Riggs will look to add to his two fight win streak when he faces season 7 Matt Riddle. Matt Riddle is 4-1 in the UFC trains at warrior training center Las Vegas is coming of a dominant fight in which he was illegally kicked late in the 3rd round resulting in a DQ win.

Takanori Gomi vs. Joe Stevenson (UFC on Versus 2) – Though not signed yet the Ultimate Fighter season 2 winner Joe “Daddy” Stevenson is penciled in to take on former Pride Lightweight champ Takanori Gomi. The two will try and get back into the win column at the UFC on Versus 2 event being held August 1st in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Roy Nelson set to face Cheick Kongo Next

Straight from the man himself, Roy Nelson is telling his fans that he will be fighting Heavyweight gatekeeper Cheick Kongo for his next fight. Nelson who is currently in Hawaii getting set to corner friend and fellow Ultimate Fighter 10 cast member Scott Junk for his Galaxy MMA fight May 1st. Posting the message via the internet, Nelson didn’t name an event or date for his fight with Kongo but it’s believed to be on UFC 116 on July 3rd. UFC 116 is where the Heavyweight title will once again be unified as Brock Lesnar will face Shane Carwin in the night’s Main event.

WASHINGTON COMBAT PRESENTS BATTLE OF THE LEGENDS

WASHINGTON, DC – Calling all mixed martial arts (MMA) fans!  You won’t want to miss the first major MMA event in the District of Columbia.  Washington Combat Presents Battle of the Legends May 15 at 7:00pm at the DC Armory.  Tickets are on-sale now!    

The main event features MMA legends Pedro Rizzo and Gary Goodridge.  “The Rock” Rizzo, a four-time Brazilian Muay Thai Champion, holds notable wins over Josh Barnett, Andrei Arlovski, Mark Coleman, Dan Severn and Ricco Rodriguez. Trained by Vale Tudo legend Marco Ruas, Rizzo’s MMA record is 32-9-0.  Nicknamed “Big Daddy”, Goodridge is well-known for his showmanship and hard-hitting fighting style.  Born in Ontario, Canada Goodridge began his MMA journey defeating Paul Herrera in Ultimate Fighting Championship 8.  Former PRIDE contender Goodridge had key victories over Don Frye, Dan Bobish, Valentijn Overeem, and a KO of Oleg Taktarov.  Big Daddy’s record is 23-20-1.

MMA Seminar with Shamrock & Melendez

The Strikeforce Lightweight Champ will be having a MMA Seminar this coming Friday and you are invited. Gilbert Melendez’s training center “El Nino Sports” will be hosting the Seminar which will be ran by legend Frank Shamrock.

The Seminar will take place this Thursday April 29th at 7:30pm – 8:30pm in San Francisco and will cover Jiu-Jitsu, Wrestling and Thai Boxing. The Seminar is $25 but if you sign up for a membership at the training center its free. This is a great opportunity to learn from a legend in the sport and check out where the skrap pack trains.
