dominick cruz vs joseph benavidez 211x300 Results for WEC 50: Cruz vs. BenavidezEach and every WEC event fans are graced with a solid card from top to bottom and WEC 50 was no different. Even with the few questionable scoring decision the nights action could not be overshadowed.

The main card opened with Bart Palaszewski out striking and dominating Zach Micklewright, stopping him with a flurry of punches in round two. The win improves Palaszewski overall record to 35-13 and he has now won four fights in a row.

Raising Bantamweight Scott Jorgensen captured his fifth straight win and fight of the night with a unanimous decision over Brad Pickett. Jorgensen is most likely next in line for the bantamweight title following the win and improved to 11-3.

Undefeated wrestler Chad Mendes was next up and used eight takedowns to easily get the Unanimous Decision victory to improve to 7-0.

Anthony Pettis vs Shane Roller was the co-main event and their action packed, back and forth fight was ended with the submission of the night. Pettis used solid takedown defense to keep the fight standing but also displayed slick escapes to get back standing. Roller got more aggressive in the third after being told he was losing by his corner, this got a closer round but also aided in his demise. Pettis caught Roller coming in from the top and locked in a triangle that force Roller to tap with only seconds left in the fight. Pettis moved to 11-1 with the win and decided to call out lightweight champ Ben Henderson after the fight, might have got what his asked too.

Now to the main event and rematch between Bantamweight champ Dominick Cruz versus Joseph Benavidez. After 25 minutes of action between these two top ranked fighters it was left to the judges and not surprising the scores card was a bit suspect. Cruz used great footwork and movement to keep Benavidez off guard and timely takedowns to win the fight and retain the bantamweught title. What surprised was instead of a unanimous decision being announced, judges saw the fight as a split decision. Never the less, Cruz still got the victory and keeps the belt but did have to sweat out the judges scores being read.
