Dream 16 Quick Results
Last night kicked off Dreams 16th installment, a jam-packed MMA card out of Japan that had some of the MMA elitist clogging up the late night twitter feeds. The event is showcased very differently from the big dogs like UFC, WEC, and Strike Force but is a visual masterpiece.
Dream 16 kicked off with “The Voice” and Frank Trigg wearing Mexican wrestling masks or “Luchadors” in honor of the great Sakuraba, and some nice Techno/Bon Jovi music.
The Walkouts in Japan are amassing and there is a lot of time and money dumped into presentation of their shows. The night was very long, but packed with some good fights.
Here is a quick rundown of results.
Gegard Mousasi defeated Tatsuta Mizuno via Rear naked choke Rnd.1 at 6:10
“Mayhem” Miller defeated Kazushi Sakuraba via arm-triangle Rnd.1 at 2:09
Shinya Aoki defeated Marcus Aurelio via Unanimous decision
Satoshi Ishii defeated Ikuhisa Minowa via unanimous decision
Hiroyuki Takaya defeated Chase Beebe via Knockout Rnd.1 1:45 in

Kazuyuki Miyata defeated Takeshi “Lion” Inoue via unanimous decision
Mitsuhiro Ishida defeated Akiyo ”Wicky” Nishiura via split decision
Yusuke Kawaguchi defeated James Thompson via split decision
The event started of slow with Thompson absorbing a lot of damage but his single leg takedown and ground and pound seemed to give him the edge in the fight, yet the judges felt otherwise. Hellboy ended his losing streak by pulling an impressive triangle in the first round.
The KO of the night would have to go to Takaya, and was quite impressive. Omigawa had a beautiful armbar over Chase Beebe, if fact you could hear his arm pop on the live broadcast. Mayhem defeated the Gracie killer by submission showing Sakuraba’s time has come and gone.
The main event of the night was the destruction of Mizuno from Mousasi. Every where the fight went Gegard was dominating and 6:10 into the first round he landed a fight ending rear naked choke.
If you have never heard of Dream, be sure to check out their Dynamite card on New Year’s Eve, they always put on a great show, great visuals, and great fights.
