Herschel Walker is Fighting Who?
Posted by Joshua Wood (Editor in Chief)Nov 7
On December 4, Herschel Walker will make his second appearance in the Strikeforce cage when he takes on Scott Carson (4-1). Being referred to as a WEC veteran, Carson is an unknown fighter who made only one WEC appearance way back in 2001 at WEC 1. Carson won that fight by first round submission to bring his record to a nice 4-0 overall.
Carson however wouldn’t fight again for nearly 10 years due to a lingering back injury. He finally returned to MMA action in June of 2010 where he was quickly knocked out by Lorenz Larkin (5-0) at a MEZ Sports-promoted event in Los Angeles. Now at 40 years old, Carson will look to make a name for himself by defeating Walker and pulling off the upset.
Walker made his professional MMA debut back on January 30, 2010 against Greg Nagy, who had a record of 1-1 coming into the fight and was a staggering 20 years younger than walker. The fight was one-sided however and in the third round the referee stopped the fight, giving walker the TKO victory.
Since taking on Mixed Martial Arts, Walker has been training at AKA in San Jose alongside UFC fighters, Cain Velasquez, Josh Koscheck, Jon Fitch and Mike Swick. A fifth degree black belt in Tae Kwan Do The former NFL running back and Olympian is no stranger to Martial Arts. He’ll look to add another notch to his long list of athletic accomplishments on December 4th in St. Louis at Strikeforce: Henderson vs. Babalu II.
