UFC News: Jon Jones Officially Leaves Bombsquad

According to his Twitter account, Jon “Bones” Jones (11-1 MMA, 10-1 UFC) is no longer affiliated with the New York based Bombsquad MMA team. Jones started his professional MMA career in 2008. That year he fought 6 times throughout New England before getting the call from the UFC. He would fight one more time in 2008, this time in the Octagon where he would finish out the year 7-0.

For his past few fights, Jones has traveled out to New Mexico and sought the help of Greg Jackson. Jackson and his team have been regulars in the corner of Jones, coaching him in past bouts. While details are not clear as to the departure from the New York base Bombsquad, Jones posted on his Twitter page “After months of trying to ‘officially’ separate myself from team Bombsquad, I can finally say that as of today I have NO association with Bombsquad or ryan ciotoli.”

Bombsquad has had recent success, having some of their fighters make appearances in the big show, including Mike Massenzio (UFC), Pat Audinwood (recently released by UFC), Kenny Foster (Bellator) and a few other fighters that appeared in the WEC.

Jones is currently scheduled to fight Ryan Bader (12-0 MMA, 5-0 UFC) February 5th at UFC 126 in Las Vegas.
