MMA Fighter Rankings for February 2011
Posted by Joshua Wood (Editor in Chief)Feb 6
With the first event of February now in the books it’s time to hand out the latest MMA fighter rankings. The past month saw three UFC events and two Strikeforce events take place with many of the ranked fighters, including three current champions successfully defended their titles.
The latest rankings have three new fighters on the list because of their impressive performances that pushed them into the top five. Mark Hominick defeated George Roop at UFC 125 and earned himself a spot in the top five along with a title shot against Jose Aldo. Ant newcomer to the featherweight rankings is Chad Mendes who defeated previously ranked Michihiro Omigawa last weekend at UFC 126. The last addition to the rankings is bantamweight Demetrious Johnson who grabbed the 5th spot with a dominant win over Kid Yamamoto at UFC 126 as well.
The big loser on this months ranks were Mike Brown and Michihiro Omigawa who both lost this past month and found themselves out of the top five. Vitor Belfort dropped two spots down to the 5th position after being knocked out by Anderson Silva in the first round last Saturday at UFC 126.

Lightweight- where is pettis, he is on a 4 fight win streak, current and final WEC champion..how can BJ be up there when he has lost his last 2 LW fights? Pettis should be #4
only 1 of his last 4 fights have gone to decision, and he won bonus money in 3 of his 4 fights also!!!
HeavyWeight-
Overeem lower than Fedor? Fedor last fight was a loss. Overeem keeps winning.
No JDS- He is on a 7 fight win streak & hasn’t lost in the UFC.
Brock just got worked in his last match.
LightHeavy-
No love for Mousasi?
Middle-
No Feijao or Henderson?
Welter-
Shields below Fitch?
No Alves….but Kos still in top 5?
Light-
Agree with Big K….can’t leave out Pettis
Overall, the rankings are good. Just some thoughts I had.
