MMA Fighter Rankings for March 2011

This month MMA rankings saw little change amongst the top fighters as many of the top fighters were out of action. Overall the rankings saw just five changes in the ranks, including two fighters moving up the ranks and three new names added to the list.

This months biggest mover was Dan Henderson, who makes his long-awaited return to the ranks after winning the Strikeforce light heavyweight championship last weekend with his knockout victory of Rafael Cavalcante. Henderson has now held belts in Strikeforce and Dream, plus has won a UFC middleweight tournament and now finds himself positioned in the fifth spot in the light heavyweight ranks.

Also new to the ranks is UFC heavyweight Junior dos Santos who replaced Fedor on the ranks and will be coaching along with #5 ranked Brock Lesnar at this upcoming TUF 13. Following the reality series the two heavyweight will fight each other at UFC 131 in June. The winner of their bout will move on to face the current heavyweight champion and #1 ranked fighters Cain Velasquez.

The last new fighter to appear on this months ranks has been close to making the ranks for months and many believe should have been there in the first place, Anthony Pettis. The last WEC lightweight champion, Pettis will face Clay Guida at the TUF season 13 finale and should he win, would move on to face the winner of Frankie Edgar vs. gray Maynard 3 at UFC 130.

As we state every month regarding the rankings: The goal here is to give you the best rankings that we can provide you with and of course a spot below for you to disagree and complain. Here are the latest MMA fighter Rankings:

About the Author ()

My brain child is MMAValor, something I had wanted to do for a long time and finally it’s here. Been an MMA fan since TUF season one (play catch up all the time) and the obsession started to grow like a weed and as the sport grows so does the love for the sport. I’m a jack of all trades, a very organized person that rides an emotional roller coaster daily.

I have 2 disagreemants with this list…1. As much as i dislike fedor he should definatly still be on this list and brock “money whore” lesnar should be dropped. Even though fedor has suffered back to back losses he should still be ranked at least #5, lesnar on the other hand (even though he was ufc heavyweight champ) has not displayed the know how or skill set that the last emperor has. Lesnar is just a flash in the pan in mma and once he is picked appart by JDS hopefully everyone elses eyes will open up to this fact. #2 josh koscheck…. “the blanket” should not even appear on this list…. i would have sanches (even though he should not have gotten that win) at #5. In fact koscheck shouldnt even make the top 10, i have penn at #6, kampman at #7, daily at #8 (even though he should be forced up to middleweight after missing weight yet again ), #9 jay hieron( considering he has only lost twice since early 2006) and #10 carlos condit ( and i give him this rank reluctantly because had he not been injured he would have been higher up on the list) …. but i guess thats just how i see it.
