Aaron Tru vs. Lee Honish was an Embarrassment to the Sport
Posted by Jake Russell (Staff Writer)Mar 13
At Saturday night’s Tuff-N-Uff event, a celebrity title fight between MMA media personalities Aaron Tru and Lee Honish was set to take place as the co-main event. By the end of the dreadful three rounds, fans in attendance were left speechless by what they just witnessed.
Since the bout became official at Tuff-N-Uff’s February event, both parties have been verbally battling back and forth. Leading up to the fight, both men trained with their respective camps preparing for the charity bout.
Once fight night came and Tru and Honish stepped into the cage, fans were unprepared for what they were about to see. The opening bell sounded and Honish looked as if he wanted nothing to do with Tru, hands down and lazily moving his feet. Tru, who looked to be much more prepared for the fight, was throwing sloppy punches with little power behind them. A few times during the fight, Tru was throwing such wild haymakers that he would miss Honish completely and end up tossing himself to the mat.
Now, granted, neither man has had a fair amount of training to be able to come in a look like a pro, but the “fight” that these men put on was a joke. Tru took Honish down multiple times throughout the fight but seldom did he even attempt to finish the fight. And by the end of three, two-minute rounds, Honish was left standing, calm and relaxed while Tru was preoccupied by the bucket in front of his face. Eventually he found the strength to stand up to have his hand raised in victory. In a post-fight interview with Dave Farra, Tru could hardly speak he was so exhausted. He was then carried out of the cage by his teammates. Farra then continued with, “We still have one more fight left tonight folks, and this one is real.”
For two men who talked a lot leading up to their fight, they did absolutely nothing to deserve the media coverage they received for it. The fight was an embarrassment to those who dedicate their lives to this sport and despite the fact that all proceeds went to charity, neither man can truly call himself a winner after that kind of performance.

What media coverage did they receive?
The fight might not have been the best in history but they are amateurs and they had a legitimate grudge.
What better way than to settle it like men, in a controlled, safe and fair environment?
Kudos to both for actually getting in the cage!
Jeff, I didn’t see the fight but know what happened from the media coverage it received. I give anyone that steps into the cage respect but their “legitimate grudge” didn’t translate in the cage. Glad they were doing it for charity though
Not only was this fight a complete joke, but both parties should be black balled from the sport. For all the talk from Aaron Tru about him showing up in shape, and training for 12 weeks, and for all the people who questioned his cardio, etc…BULLSHIT, BULLSHIT, BULLSHIT. He should disappear, he not only disrespected the sport, but every fighter who steps in the cage.
Aaron said he wanted to experience what fighters did so he could have a connection (or whatever bullshit he said), well to me that was a spit in those fighters faces. Tru’s training must have consisted of the taping he did for his interview and that was it.
Complete disrespect to the sport, the fighters, and can’t believe that this is not being pushed under the rug by the promotion like it never happened.
@Aaron Tru is a joke,
Why do you hide behind a fake identity here? Perhaps you’re afraid to fight yourself?
Well if you ever should happen to have the courage to come out from the shadows, you’re comments will be considered but until then they are meaningless.

Classic man! LOL
Cmon Jeff really?? You think I would ever be afraid to voice my opinoins in the open.. I am the one who wrote it and I stand behind it. Your buddy made himself look horrible, proved he was a joke, and should be ashamed at the performance he put on..
If you are going to state that you are doing this to find out what fighters go through, DO WHAT FIGHTERS GO THROUGH! Don’t put on a big front and look like dog shit in front of tons of people, on a stage where real warriors have left blood, sweat, and tears. He acted as if he was really training and trying to do this legit, that freak show of a fight was a disgrace to the sport. Ask any pro what they thought of that fight, hell ask the fighters in your own promotion how they felt about that fight, it’s not just me!!!! He’s taking pics with the belt like he is proud of being the champ, shit he should give you guys back the belt and pretend it never happened.
As I stated on Facebook, I am not an MMA fighter. I am a father, supporter, and do MMA Media. I know that I don’t belong in the cage because I couldn’t dedicate the time to give the sport justice. But I would be sure that Aaron Tru wouldn’t make it to the Judges Score Cards with me…
I find it strange for a promoter to back a fighter, let alone a fighter who put on one of the worst performances in the promotions history. Just saying Jeff, my beef with Aaron shouldn’t involve you. He ran his mouth about myself and a few others… I know he isn’t a man yet, but you should allow him to fight his own battles.
