Demetrious Johnson Steps Up to Face Miguel Torres at UFC 130
Due to the recent injury forcing Brad Pickett out of his upcoming fight with Miguel Torres, exciting MMA prospect Demetrious Johnson (9-1) steps up to a fight that could propel him straight to the top with a win. Johnson holds some of the best wrestling in the division followed by great footwork and movement that will pair well with Miguel Torres and his new game plan only type of mature fighting. This is defiantly a candidate for fight of the night and will be a great test for both fighters.
The former WEC bantamweight champion, Torres (39-3) has suffered only three loses in his career and is riding a two fight winning streak. Johnson has only one career lose, ironically to the man who was originally scheduled to face Torres, Pickett. Both fighters are coming off wins over tough competition and both are looking to be in the #2 or #3 slot within the division and fighting for the title.
This is a classic explosive striker against explosive grappler match that pairs styles makes this fight very intriguing on paper. Both fighters will need to stick to their strengths and there should be a slight betting edge to Torres but it is a fairly matched battle and UFC 130 will only benefit from it.
Johnson’s original opponent at UFC 130, Renan Barao still will make his UFC debut on the card against an undisclosed fighter and will probably be moved off broadcast while Torres vs. Johnson will likely seen on the SpikeTV portion of the card.
