The UFC 133 announcements keep coming and the latest one is a great fight between Rich Franklin and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira in Philadelphia in August. The loser of this fight could find themselves on the outside of the UFC, looking in. With a combined 59 fights and only 11 losses between them, you can’t blame a loss on inexperience, both guys know what this fight means.
This is a clash of two established stars in the sport, both coming off of losing efforts. Rich Franklin lost his fight with Forrest Griffin at UFC 126. He’s only won one of his last three, as he also was defeated by Vitor Belfort previous to defeating Chuck Liddell. It’s a pretty important fight for Rich Franklin, as a loss here, would be more or less a career ender.
Antonio Rogerio Nogueira is also coming off of a loss; in fact, he’s dropped two in a row to Phil Davis and Ryan Bader. If he were to lose to Rich Franklin, he’d likely face being cut by the UFC. He has to get a win here, and Rich Franklin is no easy task.
This fight announcement comes on the heels of the Vitor Belfort/Yoshihiro Akiyama fight on the same night. UFC 133 airs live on PPV August 6th. This will certainly be a fight eagerly anticipated by fans.
