Bellator 44 Fight Card with Main Card Predictions
The end is near for the fourth season of Bellator Fighting Championship as we have arrived at the second to last event in Bellator 44. Live from the Caesars Atlantic City in Atlantic City, New Jersey and airing live on MTV2, Bellator 44 offers up a main card full of talent.
The event is headlined by the lightweight tournament finals between the wrestler Michael Chandler (7-0) and the powerful Brazilian Patricky “Pitbull” Freire (9-1). The fighters took completely different paths to the finals as chandler grinded his way to a quarterfinal submission over Marcin Held and semifinal decision over Lloyd Woodard. Freire lived up to his reputation by knocking out Rob McCullough in the quarterfinal round, then following it up with a first round highlight reel knock out over Toby Imada in the semifinals. The winner will earn a shot at the Bellator light weight belt, currently around the waist of Eddie Alvarez.
As on the main card will be the Bellator middleweight champion Hector Lombard (28-2-1, 1 NC) taking on the Hawaiian Falaniko Vitale (29-9) in a non title match. Lombard is a beast who hasn’t lost a fight since 2006 going a mind blowing 21-0-1 in his last 22 fights. Vitale is the current X-1 middleweight champion and thinks he’s the guy to give Lombard that elusive defeat.
Rounding out the main card will the season two middleweight tournament winner Alexander Shlemenko (38-7) facing off against Brett Cooper (13-6). This bout promises to be an entertaining brawl where should you choose to blink you might be waiting for the replay to see how the fight ended.
The scheduled main card bout between Anthony Morrison and Bryan Goldsby was cancelled due to Morrison failing to make weight. With the loss of a main card fight one of the undercard bouts will likely be moved up to the main card on MTV.
