The BAMMA Landscape for Former UFC vet Nate Marquardt
Former Top UFC Middleweight Contender Nate Marquardt signed with the British Association of Mixed Martial Arts earlier this week. Marquardt became a free agent after being suspended for the 2nd time in his 14 fight UFC career due to illegal substances/failing to meet medical requirements/whatever you want to call it.
Marquardt’s manager Lex McMahon told MMAWeekly in an interview Friday that Nate is ready to make to make his debut for BAMMA “today”. The next event for BAMMA doesn’t take place until September 10th and will be headlined by Middleweight Champion Tom “Kong” Watson and former UFC vet Frank “Twinkle Toes” Trigg. Marquardt will be fighting in the Welterweight division where the promotion’s current face is none other than former Cage Rage World and British Champion Paul Daley. Daley has a fight under the Strikeforce banner this Saturday against Tyron Woodley which would leave him a little over a month to prepare for a fight against Marquardt. Other fighters currently on the BAMMA Welterweight roster include Yuya Shirai (Daley’s last victim), War Machine, Gunnar Nelson & Joey Villasenor who will be pitted up against Che Mills at BAMMA 7.
Keep it locked on MMAValor for the announcement of Marquardt’s first Welterweight opponent on his road back to MMA redemption.
