Ben Henderson to face off with Clay Guida at UFC on FOX 1
The UFC Lightweight division will soon get some much needed clarity when Ben Henderson and Clay Guida will clash at the inaugural UFC on FOX event in November. The fight will definitely place the winner in line with a potential title shot.
Last time we saw Ben Henderson, he was mugging Jim Miller en route to a unanimous decision victory which landed him squarely in the mix for the UFC Lightweight championship. He looked like he was on another level in that fight, and will prove to be a handful for anyone at 155.
Clay Guida has been on a tear lately, winning four in a row, including wins over Takanori Gomi and former WEC Champion, Anthony Pettis. He has gotten himself in line for title consideration as well, so a victory over Ben Henderson would undoubtedly put him next in line for a shot at the winner of Gray Maynard and Frankie Edgar’s UFC 136 bout.
In a bout between these two one thing is certain, it will not be boring. Guida has the best motor in MMA, and Henderson brings a well-rounded and active style into the fight as well. This is one of those fights you can be sure will deliver and with the added championship contender connotations to it, you can expect it to be a candidate for fight of the night.
Ben Henderson has a record of 14-2 and just knocked off Jim Miller who had he won, would be next in line for a title shot. Guida has a record of 29-8 and has looked great in his last four fights. A win over Ben Henderson would make him 30-8 and a winner of five in a row. He is unbelievably hungry for a title shot.
Whoever wins this fight can expect to be in a title fight in the opening months of 2012 and the loser will be right back in the mix in the deepest division in the sport. The main event of this event features a Heavyweight Championship fight to be aired on FOX between Cain Velasquez and Junior Dos Santos.
