Strikeforce Grand Prix: Barnett vs. Kharitonov Medical Report
The semifinal round of the Strikeforce Grand Prix is in the books and it time to move onto December’s Strikeforce event and the Grand Prix final in early 2012. Before we officially close the book on Saturday’s exciting card, the Ohio Athletic Commission and handed out it medical suspensions along with the reported fighters pay.
In reviewing the info below, two things quickly jump out and slap you in the face. The total disclosed payroll for the event was a staggering $942,000, with the top earner being Co-headliners and semifinalists Josh Barnett. The other shocking thing is that only the five fighters that were knocked out were issued medical suspensions. Fighters like Daniel Cromier who hurt his hand during the fight and Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante who reportedly broke his arm during the fight were not handed down suspensions.
