UFC Fight Night 25: Battle on the Bayou Preliminary Results
The Battle of the Bayou began the UFC Fight Night 25 card on the UFC Facebook fan page with eight preliminary bouts. Back in the big easy for the first time in nine years, the fans at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center were treated to slick submissions and competitive decisions.
The undercard might not have been filled with a star-studded cast, but what it did have though was a handful of prospects and several former TUF contestants.
170 lbs.: Justin Edwards defeated Jorge Lopez by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
- A late replacement on season 13 of the Ultimate Fighter, Edwards rebounded from a split decision lost to Clay Harvison at the finale to even his UFC record at 1-1.
145 lbs.: Robert Peralta defeated Mike Lullo by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)
- Making his UFC debut, Peralta used the leg kicks early to soften up Lullo for his eighth consecutive win.
170 lbs.: TJ Waldburger defeated Mike Stumpf by 1st rd. Submission (Triangle Choke)
- Waldburger collected his 11th submission victory against the late replacement, Stumpf to improve his UFC record to 2-1.
170 lbs.: Seth Baczynski defeated Clay Harvison by 2nd rd. Submission (Rear Naked Choke)
- TUF 11 vs. TUF 13 with Baczynski bringing one home for TUF 11 with an impressive performance on short notice.
135 lbs.: Ken Stone defeated Donny Walker by 1st rd. Submission (Rear Naked Choke)
- After being knocked out his last two-time in the cage, Stone made short work against Walker with a slick submission.
170 lbs.: Lance Benoist defeated Matt Riddle by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
- The closest fight on the undercard saw Benoist edge out Riddle even though the crowd was fully behind Riddle.
155 lbs.: Evan Dunham defeated Shamar Bailey by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 20-27, 30-27)
- Dunham gets back in the win column with a much-needed confidence builder at the expense of the less experienced TUF 13 fighter.
155 lbs.: Vagner Rocha defeated Cody McKenzie by 2nd rd. Submission (Rear Naked Choke)
- Rocha took advantage of McKenzie going for the “McKenzitine” (Guillotine) even though the TUF alum was winning the stand up battle.
