Magomed Malikov stops Alexander Emelianenko in round 1 at M-1 Challenge 28
In front of a ruckus crowd at Star Centre Arena in Astrakhan City, Russia Magomed Malikov stunned fans with a first round knockout of Alexander Emelianenko just 23 seconds into the fight. Malikov will now compete in Saturday’s (Nov. 19th) heavyweight grand prix bout at M-1 Challenge XXIX.
With the victory, Malikov enters the eight man grand prix with the hot hand. Malikov will take on Denis Smoldarev in the opening round of grand prix.
In the night co-main event, American Isaiah Larsen showed great heart and a nice ground game in securing a victory over Alikhan Magomedov. Magomedov showed a clear advantage on the feet for most of the bout and appeared at points to have Larsen in trouble. Battered and bruised, Larsen was able to secure a key takedown in the second, where he successfully moved to mount and was able to transition into a very nice armbar.
