Rampage Jackson Get his fight in Japan at UFC 144
Quinton “Rampage” Jackson (32-9) wanted on the UFC 144 card in Japan and what once looked unlikely, is now going to happened. The former Pride star was briefly rumored to be facing Stephen Bonnar but he will in fact be facing the Ultimate fighter season 8 winner, Ryan Bader (13-2).
Set for February 26th, UFC 144 will take place from the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. The bout was announced on ESPN.com through the UFC’s co-owner Lorenzo Fertitta.
Following Saturdays UFC 139, Stephen Bonnar requested a bout with Jackson, which seemed like a perfect fit for UFC 144. Earlier this week though, Jackson claimed he was unlikely to fight on the card while openly expressed his frustration. By days end though Jackson appeared to be more optimistic that he’d appear on the fight card.
Jackson last fought at UFC 135 against current UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, losing in the 4th round via rear naked choke. Bader is coming off a 1st round knockout of Jason Brilz at UFC 139 to snap a two fight-winning streak.
UFC 144 is expected to be headlined by a lightweight championship bout between Frankie Edgar and Ben Henderson. The Jackson vs. Bader bout will definitely be on the main card but where on the card is yet to be determined.
