Matt Brown to Face Stephen Thompson at UFC 145
Coming off wins at UFC 143 just a week ago, welterweights Matt Brown and Stephen Thompson already know their next opponent, each other. The UFC has confirmed that the two will square off against each other on April 21st at UFC 145 from Atlanta’s Philips Arena.
Brown (13-11) is coming off a second round knockout win over Chris Cope on the UFC 143 undercard. The Ultimate Fighter season 7 contestant will look to build off the win that improved his record to 2-1 over his last three bouts and 6-5 overall inside the Octagon.
Thompson (6-0) made his UFC debut against Dan Stittgen to open the night at UFC 143. The kick boxer used a head kick to finish off his opponent just over four minutes into the fight to make a big splash in his debut.
The head kick KO by Thompson got the nod over Brown’s TKO to win “knockout of the night” honors and the $65k that accompanied it.
UFC 145 will be headlined by a light heavyweight title fight between the champion Jon Jones and the former champion Rashad Evans.
