UFC Announces Josh Koscheck vs. Johny Hendricks for UFC on FOX 3
Top welterweight Josh Koscheck will look to erase his unimpressive split decision performance at UFC 143 by getting back into the Octagon right away. Koscheck will get back into action on May 5th against Johny Hendricks, as part of the televised portion of the UFC on FOX 3 card from East Rutherford, New Jersey.
The bout was announced earlier today by Dana White via his twitter account.
Koscheck (17-5) fought Mike Pierce on the main card of last weekend’s UFC 143 card and had his hands full for entire 15 minutes. A late takedown from Koscheck secured him enough points on two judges’ scorecards to earn a close decision. The win was his second in a row after losing to Georges St. Pierre at UFC 124.
Hendricks (12-1) is coming off the biggest win of his career at UFC 141 when he knocked out Koscheck’s former teammate Jon Fitch in just 12 seconds. Having now won three in a row, Hendricks improved his UFC record to 7-1 and is one of the hottest welterweights in the UFC.
A win by either fighter would position them at or near the top of the division and possibly a title shot once Carlos Condit and GSP finally meet.
UFC on FOX 3 will be headlined by a lightweight clash between Nate Diaz and Jim Miller.
