Anthony Pettis displays another Big Kick at UFC 144
Anthony ‘Showtime’ Pettis is arguably more famous for his Jackie Chan, Matrix style kick to the head of Benson Henderson, than he is for winning the WEC belt from ‘Bendo’ at the final WEC event before the UFC fully integrated the organization. When Pettis made his UFC debut, talks of him being the number one guy, alongside Jim Miller, were the dominant discussions in regards to the UFC lightweight division.
Pettis debuted in June of last year against lightweight gatekeeper Clay Guida, and came out on the losing end of a hard-fought decision. Following Pettis down a similar path was Jim Miller, who as Dana White’s number one cat, ran head first into our new UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson, and was thoroughly dominated for three straight rounds. Miller is back in top form, as he just dispatched of Melvin Guillard recently, to earn a top slot match-up against Nate Diaz as the headlining bout for the UFC on Fox 3 event.
Pettis bounced back from his loss to Guida as well, and following his marvelous head kick KO of Joe Lauzon at UFC 144 has two straight victories, as well as having his name thrown into the hat for potential match-ups against new title holder Henderson. Pettis added another glorious highlight reel clip to his resume, with the finish of Lauzon, and fans are now very interested to see where Anthony lands in the landscape of lightweight division in the UFC.
Will we see Pettis vs. Henderson 2 sooner or later? Only time will tell.
