Clay Guida and Gray Maynard Signed for Five rounder at UFC on FX 4
Two lightweight’s will step into the Octagon at UFC on FX 4 for the promotions second five round non-title fight main event. Clay Guida and Gray Maynard have agreed to fight on June 22nd in Atlantic City for a potential 25 minute showdown.
Maynard (10-1-1) is coming off the loss to Frankie Edgar at UFC 136 in their rematch for the lightweight title. The champ knocked out Maynard to avenge his lone loss and return the favor by handing Maynard his first defeat. Following the loss, Maynard left his home at Xtreme Couture to train elsewhere in California.
Guida (29-12) was standing on the doorstep of a title shot but the door was slammed shut by Benson Henderson at last year’s UFC on FOX 1 event. The fan-favorite had been riding a four fight winning streak to earn that number one contenders match but is still a top contender at 155 pounds.
The winner of this lightweight bout will join an ever-growing list of top contenders in the promotions stacked lightweight division.
