Bellator 66 Quick Results
The I-X Center in Cleveland, Ohio was the host for tonight’s Bellator 66 and its jam-packed 10 bout fight card. In front of a packed house and airing on MTV2 and Spkie.com Bellator 66 saw four tournament bouts and was headlined by a lightweight rematch between Eddie Alvarez and Shinya Aoki.
The middleweight and lightweight tournaments semifinals opened the main card and the season six finals are now set. Middleweights Andreas Spang and Maiquel Falcao got into a shoving match inside the Bellator cage and the two will be able to settle their differences later this season in the finals. Former welterweights turned Lightweights Rick Hawn and Brent Weedman wouldn’t shove each other but they did advance to the finals.
In the main event Alvarez got his revenge in his rematch with Aoki with a quick ground and pound burst that caused the corner of Aoki to throw in the towel equally as quick. The referee didn’t see the towel and would eventually step in and end the fight but not after Aoki took a few more fists to the face.
With Bellator 66 now in the books, the promotion will take a break and return to action on May 4th with Bellator 67.
