UFC 149 Fight Night Bonuses earns four fighters 65k
Tonight UFC 149 was one of those nights; some will call it an off-night while others will refer to it as crap. While the final four fights couldn’t live up to the rest of the card, UFC 149 did have its moments and a few of the fighters were rewarded for them.
Tonight winner of the UFC 149 fight night bonuses each received $65k.
Fight of the Night – Brian Caraway and Mitch Gagon
Opening up the preliminary card on FX, Mitch Gagon took control of the fight early with some great ground and pound. Caraway hung in there though and began to turn the fight into his favor late in the opening frame. The tide continued to turn in favor of Caraway and by the third round Gagon was tired and it was all Caraway. The fight finished late in the final round as Caraway secured a rear naked choke.
Knockout of the Night – Ryan Jimmo
Hard to argue with a seven second knockout getting Knockout of the night! If you blinked you missed it because the first punch UFC newcomer and the former MFC light heavyweight champion Ryan Jimmo threw knocked out Anthony Perosh. Jimmo would throw one more punch to the head of an old cold Perosh as the referee scampered over to wave the fight over. Not a bad UFC debut for a fighter people had labeled boring in the past.
Submission of the Night – Matt Riddle
What ended up being to lone bright spot on the UFC 149 main card, Matt Riddle smiled his way through a dominate performance against Chris Clements. Known for his striking, Clements had no answer for the grappling / wrestling of Riddle and found himself on the mat often. Riddle would earn the bonus though by grabbing a standing arm triangle off a missed spinning back fist from Clements. Once on the canvas Riddle would only need to tighten things up and Clements was forced to tap.
Considering the changes the UFC 149 fight card has endured the card was already in the hole but the above fighters climbed out and earned themselves a nice bonus.
