UFC on FOX 4 Bold Predictions
After a two-week break the UFC returns to action this Saturday with the UFC on FOX 4. Looking to erase the memories of their last event (UFC 149) the promotion looks to the light heavyweight division to put on a show for the fans watching on network television.
After some changes at the top of the UFC on FOX 4 fight card, two former UFC light heavyweight champions will anchor things in separate bouts that have title shot implications.
In the main event Mauricio Rua will look to get back in the win column after his epic fight with Dan Henderson at UFC 139 when he faces Brandon Vera. It was announced during the pre-fight conference call that the winner of the night’s main event will be the next in line for the UFC light heavyweight title. Reigning UFC light heavyweight Jon Jones will be facing the above mentioned Dan Henderson at UFC 150 on August 11th.
In the night’s co-main event, Lyoto Machida returns after his loss to current champion Jon Jones eight months ago to take on Ultimate Fighter winner Ryan Bader. With the main event now being a #1 contender’s match, expect the winner of this bout to find themselves in a #1 contenders match later on this year.
Opening up the UFC on FOX 4 main card will be the return of Mike Swick, who has been out of action 30 months as he takes on DaMarques Johnson. The second bout on the main card will be in the lightweight division as Joe Lauzon takes on late replacement, Jamie Varner.
The UFC on FOX 4 preliminary card will air on FX and features six bouts.
Last week’s UFC 149 card was a disappointment not only to Dana White and the UFC but my predictions as well. After two solid events of predictions UFC 149 brought a 3-8 record to lower the overall totals to 124-91 (58%).
