UFC 150: Henderson vs. Edgar Bold Predictions

The UFC returns to the high altitude of Denver, Colorado this weekend as Frankie Edgar looks to regain his lightweight title against Ben Henderson in the UFC 150 main event. It’s a rematch of their UFC 144 main event, but that shouldn’t be a surprise because ever since Edgar defeated BJ Penn to become the champ at UFC 112 the division has been stuck in rematch mode for 28 long months.

Saturday’s UFC 150 will look to close the book on the immediate rematch era but that was the hope after Edgar knocked out Gray Maynard at UFC 136. Edgar would lose to Henderson in Japan by a fairly non-controversial unanimous decision but was still granted a rematch, probably as payback for the previous ones that he accepted. Never the less Edgar will have his hands full getting that title back but should he accomplish that fans will likely have to wait one more fight before the rematch’s stop.

The UFC 150 co-main event is also in the lightweight division as Donald Cerrone and Melvin Guillard will try to position themselves nicely no matter how the main event plays out. Both fighters are coming off unanimous decision wins to get back in the win column. Many have circled this bout as the early “Fight of the Night” candidate and it’s hard to argue with it train of thought, but keep an eye out for the “Submission of the Night” though.

Also on the main card is Jake Shields, who is returning to the middleweight division after four UFC fights at welterweight. Shields was the Strikeforce middleweight champion before moving over to the UFC and dropping weight so the submission specialist is familiar with the weight class. His opponent will be the very game Ed Herman, who since returning from injury has gone 3-0 recording two submissions and one knockout.

Event Coverage 246x200 UFC 150: Henderson vs. Edgar Bold PredictionsThe five bout preliminary card begins with one fight on Facebook before the final four bouts air live on FX. The featherweight bout between Dennis Bermudez and Tommy Hayden will be the featured bout on the UFC 150 preliminary card and leads things into the five bout PPV main card.

Last weekend’s UFC on FOX 4 didn’t help turn things around for me as the predictions went 4-5 to bring the overall to 128-96 (57%). Now onto the UFC 150 predictions:
