Four Fighters Entering UFC 150 With No UFC Victories
At Saturday’s UFC 150 there are four fighters with a UFC goose egg in the win column. Though they all have impressive records that enabled them a shot in “the big show”, they have yet to have their hands raised in victory inside the UFC octagon. Three of the four fighters have tried and failed once before, while one of them will step foot inside the octagon for the first time.
Many hopeful Mixed Martial Artists have had their shot at UFC stardom only to watch their dreams slip between their fingers with two or three lackluster performances. Some of these fighters have climbed their way back up the ladder through smaller MMA organizations to receive another shot at “the big show”, while others never saw that octagon again before retirement. We all know the four fighters listed below would love to put a “W” on their record where it really counts, inside that UFC cage at UFC 150.
Chico Camus (11- 3) is taking on Dustin Pague (11-7) on Saturday night’s preliminary card on FX and enters his UFC debut on a three fight win streak. When the UFC asked Dustin Pague his thoughts on the fight with Camus, he had this to say… ” I feel very confident in my training and promise a much more active and aggressive Dustin in this fight”.
Also on the FX prelims is Michael Kuiper (11-1), who is looking to clinch his first win in the UFC octagon against a heavy-handed Jared Hamman (13-4). Kuiper lost a unanimous decision at UFC 143 his UFC debut to Rafael Natal after opening his career with 11 consecutive wins.
Next up we have Tommy Hayden (8-1), who like Kuiper entered the UFC undefeated. After losing his UFC debut to Fabricio Camoes, Hayden will look to turn things around at UFC 150 with a win over Dennis Bermudez (9-3). Both of these guys have similar styles as they both have great takedowns and takedown defense.
Fighting on the lone UFC 150 preliminary bout on Facebook is Eiji Mitsuoka (18-8-2) who suffered his UFC debut loss to another veteran fighter Takanori Gomi. As well-rounded as Mitsuoka is, he has no easy task ahead of him in veteran fighter Nik Lentz (23-5-3).
There is no doubt that UFC matchmaker Joe Silva knew what he was doing when he concocted these four fights. All four of these Mixed Martial Artists are starving for that first victory that matters the most. Hopefully that “hunger” shows in these fighters performances on Saturday. If not, it could be a long time before these fighters get to see the bright lights of “the big show” again…. If ever.
