Is Dan Henderson the bridesmaid in the UFC?
I am sure you have heard the old saying, three strikes and you are out. Well in ten days Grandfather time, a.k.a. Dan Henderson will be on his possible last strike when it comes to his chance at UFC gold.
Henderson has always been one of the top fighters in any organization he has fought in and he first fought for the UFC Light heavyweight title after coming over from the Pride buyout against Quinton Jackson at UFC 75. The fight was a title unification fight in which he’d fall short via decision. His next UFC title fight was at UFC 82 against Anderson Silva with Silva winning the fight via rear naked choke in the second round, bringing Dan’s UFC title run to 0-2.
Dan Henderson has fought in many different divisions, and held a title in the welterweight and light heavyweight divisions. Whatever division he is in, Henderson always finds his way to being a top 5 fighter. UFC 151 will be Henderson’s seventh title fight. He also has a Ring King of King’s tournament win, a Pride 2005 welterweight tournament win, and was the middle weight tournament winner at UFC 17. There is not many places the ageless one has gone and didn’t have success.
The former Olympic Greco-Roman Wrestler with a very big right hand also known as the H-Bomb, has taken out countless amounts of opponents with it. One shot, even at the age of 41 could stop anyone in their tracks. He also possesses an iron chin, scratch that, he has an Adamantium chin. Ok I realize that does not exist, but if it did, Henderson’s chin would be made of it.
Dan Henderson will no doubt give it everything he has Jon Jones, but will it be enough to take out the young and lanky champion? With a loss, does Henderson forget titles and just fight for nostalgia, or does he ride off into the sunset and eventually land in the UFC hall of fame?
Jon Jones and Dan Henderson will be the UFC 151 main event taking place on September 1st in Las Vegas, Nevada.
