UFC 152 Offered Several Candidates for Fight Night Bonuses
Maybe it was the fact the UFC hasn’t held an event in quite a while but tonight’s UFC 152 delivered a solid night of fights that made it tough to predict the Fight Night Bonuses.
The night got started out on Facebook with three first round finishes that included two knockouts and one submission. As the prelims continued on FX the fights got more grueling and saw three of the four bouts go the distance with back and forth bouts. The UFC 152 main card opened and closed with exciting finishes that book ended three fights that went the distance.
Despite the many options for the Fight Night Bonuses, the UFC choose two preliminary bouts and one main card bout to receive the $65,000 bonus.
Fight of the Night: Evan Dunham vs. T.J. Grant
This fight could be summed up in one word, WAR. These two went toe to toe for the majority of the 15 minutes, except for the single takedown from Dunham to close out each round. Grant won the fight by turning Dunham’s face into a bloody mess by throwing everything but the kitchen sink at him. Dunham took the shots and screamed for more before charging forward on multiple occasions, hard to argue with these two receiving fight of the Night.
Submission of the Night: Jon Jones
The champion nearly had his right arm removed by Vitor Belfort in round one of the UFC 152 main event before returning the favor with an Americana in the fourth round. The challenger was game but the reach of Jon Jones was too much and after pulling guard for the third time, the champion forced the tap. Jones didn’t escape without damage though as he was clearly favoring that right arm after the fight.
Knockout of the Night: Cub Swanson
Note to fighters looking to win fight of the night, if you hit a guy so hard that his brain goes back in time five seconds, you’ll easily win Knockout of the Night. Cub Swanson had hurt Charles Oliveira with a body shot moments before he landed an overhand right that landed flush on the temple. Oliveira remained standing until his brain finally caught up to real-time and he went crumbling to the canvas in pain.
Honorable mention goes to Vinny Magalhaes for a slick submission of Igor Pokrajac and Seth Baczynski for his first round knockout of Simeon Thoresen, both on the UFC 152 preliminary card.

Vinny Magalhaes had armbar of the night. jon jones is the champ he’s supposed to do shit like that cmon!
The UFC always gives the main event special treatment when it comes to Fight Night Bonuses. Vinny’s submission was very slick which is way I made sure to mention it, but the UFC gave the submission of the night to the light heavyweight champion Jon Jones.
