You Can’t Fix Stupid in Episode 4 of The Ultimate Fighter
With a lead in of the UFC on FX 5, tonight’s episode of The Ultimate Fighter saw two more fighters enter the Octagon and one advancing to the next round. Heading into tonight the teams were tied up with one win each and Team Nelson had the control.
Coach Roy Nelson didn’t want the stress so he and Team Nelson decide to let the fighters draw straws for who will fight next. The more baffles the fighters but they draw straws and Julian Lane was the lucky one and pulled the shortest straw. The obvious pick would be Matt Secor since they have exchanged words, but he’s not sure who he’ll pick just yet.
Dana White tells the fighters they will get to go see a premiere of Here Comes the Boom.
Decision time for Julian Lane and he picked Bristol Marunde. They never pick the fighter they have a beef with do they? Maybe it was a good move by Lane because Marunde has 15 pounds to lose before the fight. Marunde cut that weight and both fighters weighed in at 170 pounds, even though some of Team Nelson fighters disagree.
Fight Time – Julian Lane (Team Nelson) vs. Bristol Marunde (Team Carwin)
Round One: Marunde puts Lane up against the cage right away and starts working the knees and dirty boxing. Marunde is getting the better of the exchanges but he’s the one that is bleeding from the nose. Lane seems to content with his back against the cage, something the Team Nelson coaches tried to fix. Marunde’s nose is a jacked up mess but he closes the on the back of Lane elbowing his ribs.
Round Two: Murande now using the outside leg kick, chopping down Lane who continues to keep his back near the cage. Lane looks tired and is taking long breaks between attacks. Lane’s hands are down and Murande continues to punish the lead leg. Lane wanted this fight but is not doing anything the majority of this round. Fight ends and even though Murande is cut up and bleeding he should win this fight.
Results: Bristol Marunde wins by Unanimous Decision
Team Carwin regains control and going up on Team Nelson 2-1.
After the fight in which his fighter lost, Roy Nelson pulls Dana White aside to say Marunde didn’t make weight yesterday. White is puzzled and otters the best line thus far on The Ultimate Fighter, “You can’t Fix Stupid”.
