UFC on FUEL TV 9Despite the friction between his father and the UFC, former Strikeforce lightweight Ryan Couture will make his Octagon debut on the April 6th UFC on FUEL TV 9 card. The fight card is set to take place at Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden where Couture will be taking on The Ultimate fighter season 9 winner Ross Pearson.

Couture (6-1) enters the UFC on a four fight winning streak, most recently defeating K.J. Noons by Split Decision in the final Strikeforce event. Couture opened his professional career with back to back submission wins but since has found himself in several very close decisions. Along with his promotional debut, Couture will be fighting outside the US for the first time.

Pearson (14-6) is coming off a TKO victory over fellow TUF: Smashes coach George Sotiropoulos back in December in his return back to the lightweight division. After winning The Ultimate Fighter as a lightweight and going 4-2, Pearson decided to drop down to featherweight where he went 1-1. The return to lightweight seemed to be a good for the Englishman as he scored his first finish since 2009.

The UFC on FUEL TV 9 card will be headlined by light heavyweight bout between Alexander Gustafsson and former Strikeforce champion Gegard Mousasi. Other fight recently added to the UFC on FUEL TV 9 card was a heavyweight bout between Matt Mitrione and Philip De Fries.

The UFC on FUEL TV 9 fight card currently includes:

Phil De Fries vs. Matt Mitrione

Ryan Couture vs. Ross Pearson

Mike Easton vs. Brad Pickett

Diego Brandao vs. Pablo Garza

Akira Corassani vs. Robert Peralta

My brain child is MMAValor, something I had wanted to do for a long time and finally it’s here. Been an MMA fan since TUF season one (play catch up all the time) and the obsession started to grow like a weed and as the sport grows so does the love for the sport. I’m a jack of all trades, a very organized person that rides an emotional roller coaster daily.
