KJ Noons UFC 160Two exciting lightweights coming off recent defeats have agreed to face each other on the May 25th UFC 160 fight card. In what should be a pure slugfest, Donald Cerrone and K.J. Noons will look to get back into the win column inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Cerrone (19-5, 1NC) has been the UFC workhorse since coming over from the WEC in 2011. That year the “Cowboy” fought five time and earned post-fight bonuses in four of those. In his last fight at UFC on FOX 6, Cerrone lost to fellow WEC alum Anthony Pettis by first round TKO. He had been riding a two-fight winning streak and yet again climbing near the top of the lightweight division. During his time in the WEC, Cerrone fought for the title three times but unfortunately came up short in each one.

Noons (11-6) joins the UFC by way of Strikeforce, where he went just 3-4 over the last two and a half years. The boxer is coming off a controversial split decision loss to Ryan Couture that dropped his record to 1-4 over his last five. As the UFC continues trimming its roster at a staggering rate, Noons needs a win badly or at the very least a “fight of the Night” performance.

UFC 160 will be headlined by a Heavyweight title fight between newly crowned champion Cain Velasquez and Antonio Silva. Velasquez defeated Silva last May at UFC 146 to earn his title fight rematch with Junior Dos Santos. He went on to defeat Dos Santos to get the heavyweight title back and will now rematch Silva at UFC 160. Dos Santos though will also be on the UFC 160 card in the night’s co-main event against former No. 1 contender Alistair Overeem.

UFC 160 will take place during the Memorial Day holiday weekend.
