UFC on FUEL TV 8: Silva vs. Stann Bold Predictions
After a long absence from the Japanese market, the UFC returns the Saitama, Japan with the UFC on FUEL TV 8 this weekend for the second time in just over a year. Also making a return to Japan will be Wanderlei Silva who is headlining the card along with Brian Stann.
Silva became a legend in MMA in Japan while fighter from Pride. He won the Pride middleweight title and Grand Prix while defeating guys like Dan Henderson, Kazushi Sakuraba and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson. Those epic brawls in Pride seem to have caught up to him, though that hasn’t deterred him from his fighting style. Stann followed Silva back up to the light heavyweight division for this fight and will surely test his chin. Stann has dropped two of his last three and is coming off a decision loss against Michael Bisping, yet is headlining a UFC card for the first time.
In the UFC on FUEL TV 8 co-main event is a heavyweight bout between Mark Hunt and Stefan Struve. This odd-looking fight will see the seven-foot tall Struve standing opposite the well under six-foot tall Hunt. That size difference could play a major role in the fight should Struve actually decide to his that height to his advantage, something he has very rarely done.
The fight card will actually happen on Saturday March 3rd in Saitama, Japan but with the time difference airs live in the States on Saturday. The five preliminary bouts will stream on Facebook and YouTube beginning at 4pm PT / 7pm ET leading into the six bout main card on FUEL TV starting at 7pm PT / 10pm ET.
After two bad weeks I bounced back last weekend with an 8-4 showing at UFC 157 to bring the overall record to 42-26 (62%).
