UFC welterweight champion Georges St Pierre could be having a role reversal in the very near future. St. Pierre is coming off a unanimous decision win over Nick Diaz in which his opponent was the clear villain. According to the Latino Review, Georges St Pierre could be channeling his own villain side in the upcoming Captain America: The Winter Solider movie.
The article states St. Pierre has been cast as the villain “Batroc the Leaper” who actually has no superhuman powers. What he does have though is peak physical condition, extraordinary agility and reflexes, along with being an expert hand-to-hand combatant that specializes in savate (French-style kickboxing).
Kind of almost sounds like the UFC champ huh, guess that’s called good casting.
Batroc the leaper is not set to play a major role in the comic book sequel starring Chris Evans but Disney/Marvel seem to be stacking the deck from top to bottom with stars in small roles. The movie is scheduled to be released on April 4th, 2014 and filming has yet to begin.
If Georges St Pierre is in fact playing Batroc in the movie the filming will cut into his training time, small part or not. How this potential news disrupts his fight with number one welterweight contender Johny Hendricks is unknown at this time. Immediately after his fight with Diaz at UFC 158 St. Pierre talked about taking some time off so maybe he can squeeze in some villain time while on vacation.
