UFC on FUEL TV 9 Bold Predictions
The last few days have been spent figuring out figuring out who would be in this Saturday’s UFC on FUEL TV 9 main event. A cut to the face of the hometown fighter Alexander Gustafsson forced a very late opponent change for Gegard Mousasi. Instead of a five round main event against a top five light heavyweight in Gustafsson, Mousasi now faces the unknown Llir Latifi in a three round bout.
The change has brought a lot of attention to the fight card that takes place from the Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden. The fight card was not stacked to begin with and losing Gustafsson really hurts the cards but luckily it’s free.
In the UFC on FUEL TV 9 co-main event will be The Ultimate Fighter winner Ross Pearson against Ryan Couture. Pearson has been up and down over his last six fight but is coming off a big KO win over George Sotiropoulos who coached opposite of Pearson on TUF: Smashes. Couture will be making his promotional debut after a successful 6-1 record with Strikeforce.
Starting with Pearson, the remainder of the fight card has a very heavy Ultimate Fighter look. Matt Mitrione, Diego Brandao and Akira Corassani are on the main card and are just a few of the TUF alums on the UFC on FUEL TV 9 card.
Things get started early on Saturday at appox. 7:50am PT / 10:50am ET on Facebook with seven preliminary fights before the six bout main card begins at 11am PT / 2pm ET.
It’s been a few weeks since we last brought you some predictions when we went 7-5 on our UFC 158 picks. This brought the overall record to 57-34 (63%) on the year heading into Saturday. Here’s how we see things going at UFC on FUEL TV 9:
