Wrapping up the TUF 17 and the Finale
Last night’s TUF 17 was filled with excitement and surprises. The second ever women’s bout took place inside the Octagon, a new Ultimate Fighter winner was crowned and Urijah Faber showed that he is the best bantamweight in the UFC without belt around his waist.
The TUF 17 Finale put the finishing touches on the season and featured 11 of the 14 fighters from the reality show. The fighter got one last chance to showcase themselves and prove they belong with the UFC. The women’s bout between Miesha Tate and Cat Zingano was not only the second UFC fight in the female bantamweight division but it also kept with the Ultimate Fighter theme, as the winner will coach opposite champion Ronda Rousey at TUF 18.

Not only did the UFC reward the TUF 17 winner with a six figure contract and a new Harley Davidson but they also handed out bonuses for the “Fight”, “Submission” and “Knockout” of the season. TUF 17 winner Kelvin Gastelum had his cake and ate it too by not only collecting the UFC contract but he also scored a little extra with the “Submission of the season” to top it off.

- Knockout of the Season: Uriah Hall
Let’s not forget about the Fight Night bonuses the UFC also handed out for the fights that took place at the TUF 17 Finale.
The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale ($50k each)
- Fight of the Night: Cat Zingano and Miesha Tate
- Submission of the Night: Daniel Pineda
- Knockout of the Night: Travis Browne
In conclusion, the TUF 17 finale did have a few odd matchups between the fighters from the house but overall was a solid fight card. Not only did it have the greatest women’s bout in the UFC to date take place but so did the biggest Ultimate Fighter hype train derailment in series history.
