Joe Lauzon added to the UFC on FOX Sports 1 Debut Card
The UFC is returning to Boston on August 17th and according to reports, Joe Lauzon will be getting his wish to fight in his hometown. The Boston Native fought on the UFC 118 fight card in Boston back in 2010 and now the lightweight has been added to the debut card on the new FOX channel, FOX Sports 1.
Lauzon (22-8) is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Jim Miller that earned him his record tying 12th post-fight bonus. His opponent who will be entering the hostile territory of Lauzon’s backyard will be Michael Johnson (12-8). Johnson is coming off a submission loss to Reza Madadi in April and the TUF 12 runner-up can ill afford to lose three fights in a row.
Joe Lauzon is rarely in a dull fight, which is evident by all the extra money he’s pocketed via bonuses, so expect his fight with Michael Johnson to appear on the main card but that not official. The lightweight bout is only the second bout to officially be added to the UFC on FOX Sports 1 fight card. Earlier a welterweight fight between Thiago Alves and Matt Brown was added to the card.
The promotions debut on the new FOX Sports 1 network will take place at the TD Bank Garden in Boston Massachusetts on Aug. 17, the same day the network launches. Formally the Speed Channel, FOX Sports 1 will replace FX and FUEL TV as the home for live UFC events.
