The Towel was out During the UFC on FX 8 Weigh-ins

The main scale for today’s UFC on FX 8 weigh-ins must have been slightly off from the one backstage because several of the fighters needed the towel in order to make weight. Factor in the handful of fighters that took an inordinately long time to get on the scale and today’s festivities seemed to go on forever.

Only one fighter needed extra time to officially make weight but within minutes after the last fighter walked off the stage John Cholish had got back on the scale and made weight. Cholish will be facing Gleison Tibau, who made weight the first time despite looking bigger than some of the middleweights on the card.

The main event between Vitor Belfort and the former Strikeforce middleweight champion Luke Rockhold got some fuel added to the fire during the fighters stare down. Rockhold didn’t like the way Belfort stuck his hand in his face during the pre-fight press conference when the two-faced off and made sure that didn’t happen again today. As Belfort began to put that hand up towards the face, Rockhold walked right past the hand and straight to the face of Belfort. Upset over that Belfort pushed Rockhold away and the two had to be separated. Their main event will be a five round non-title fight but after the altercation it seems unlikely the fight goes that long.

UFC on FX 8: Belfort vs. Rockhold takes place this Saturday from Jaragua do Sul, Santa Catarina, Brazil and will be aired live on FX, FUEL TV and Facebook.
