UFC 160 Gate #’s and Post Fight Bonuses
A great night of fights is now in the books and a handful of fighters earned some extra cash with their UFC 160 performances. UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez retained his title but his dominate performance wasn’t enough to earn him a bonus.
Before we get to the post fight bonuses, the UFC 160 attendance was 11,089 for a gate of 2.92 million. Those numbers are down from the last time the UFC was at the MGM Grand Garden at UFC 155, which were 13,561 and 3.286 million.
Winners of the UFC 160 post fight awards each earned a $50k Bonus on top of their contracted pay.
Fight of the Night: Junior Dos Santos vs. Mark Hunt
- The former heavyweight champion earned another title against Cain Velasquez (who successfully defended his title at UFC 160) by unloading a spinning heel kick late in the third round. Dos Santos used his quickness advantage to keep Hunt on the outside and for the most part out of danger of the heavy hands. Dos Santos can thank Mike Tyson for only getting one post fight bonus…..
Submission of the Night: Glover Teixeira
- Teixeira continues to climb the light heavyweight ladder and was the only fighter to force a fighter to tap tonight. That doesn’t mean his guillotine submission wasn’t worthy of submission of the night though. Teixeira pulled guard against James Te Huna and squeezed until the Australian tapped out midway through the first round.
Knockout of the Night: TJ Grant
- Dana White said JDS was going to get it but Mike Tyson said TJ Grant should get it and you really don’t want to disagree with Iron Mike. Grant though knocked out Gray Maynard in quick fashion and is now the #1 contender to Benson Henderson’s lightweight title.
