MMA Valor Local Corner: Jeremiah Labiano Takes on Joe Soto
Hayward, California’s own Jeremiah Labiano will look to continue building upon his already impressive resume next month when he takes his toughest opponent to date.
Coming off a first round submission victory over Adam Calderon at TPF 17 back in November of last year, Jeremiah Labiano (6-1) will fight for the vacant Tachi Palace Fights bantamweight title on February 6th in Lemoore, CA at TPF 18. The Tachi Palace Fights bantamweight title was recently vacated by Russell Doane, who made a successful UFC debut at this past weekends UFC Fight Night 34.
To potentially follow in those footsteps Labiano will need to defeat the most decorated opponent he’s fought thus far in his short career. Standing across from Jeremiah Labiano inside the Tachi Palace Fights cage will be the former Bellator featherweight champion Joe Soto (12-2).
In Bellator’s first season Soto defeated Ben Greer, Wilson Reis and Yahir Reyes to become the then upstart promotions first ever featherweight champion. He would go on to lose in his only title defense when Joe Warren knocked him out at Bellator 27. Since then he’s gone 3-1, including back to back TPF wins heading into the scheduled title fight against Labiano.
Since suffering his only defeated, Jeremiah Labiano has won three in a row and currently also hold the West Coast Fighting Championships bantamweight crown. Adding a second title to his mantle as well as the win over a former champion could put Jeremiah Labiano on the fast track to the World Series of Fighting, Bellator MMA or even the UFC.
