Former UFC welterweight Charlie Brenneman will face Kyle Baker on August 17th in Atlantic City, New Jersey for the vacant Cage Fury Fighting Championships (CFFC) lightweight championship. John Cholish was the last man to hold the CFFC lightweight title but he vacated the title when he went to the UFC and later retired.
The ladies have been moved to the passenger’s seat for final UFC event of the year. Newly crowned middleweight champion Chris Weidman and Anderson Silva will do it again on December 28th at UFC 168, bumping the Ronda Rousey vs. Miesha Tate title fight down to the nights co-main event.
Last night’s Invicta FC 6 marked the promotions first real PPV appearance and it will be very interesting to see the number later the week. The night was headlined by a featherweight champion bout between former Strikeforce champions Cristiane Cyborg and Marloes Coenen but unfortunately also saw a somewhat controversial decision against Ashley Cummings.
It’s been over 18 months since the former UFC featherweight Stephen Bass has fought. A member of The Ultimate Fighter’s 14th season, Bass lost an entertaining fight at the TUF 14 finale to Marcus Brimage and hasn’t fought since.
The Holiday weekend is still in full force and the UFC has one more night of fireworks planned for the fans with tonight’s UFC 162 from Las Vegas, Nevada. The city that never sleeps has been home to fighters and fight fans for most of the week waiting for the UC 162 grand finale between middleweight champion Anderson Silva and Chris Weidman.
The rare slow weekend left very few options for MMA fans but the inaugural GWC (Global Warrior Challenge) event looked to quench the fans thirst. Featuring several former UFC, Strikeforce and BAMMA veterans, the GWC fight card wasn’t short on recognizable names.
Former Bellator fighter and currently ranked #4 bantamweight in the UK, Ronnie Mann is set to make his CWFC debut at next month’s Cage Warrior 57.
Wisconsin isn’t exactly a hot bed of MMA, but the fighters they do have always come to fight with a vengeance. Due to a previously scheduled Arena Football game at the HP Pavilion, today’s UFC on FOX 7 weigh-ins were held less than a mile away at the California Theater. The small theater was completely filled with cheering fans and all the fighters they came to see made weight.
