Here we are once again with the middleweight division’s number one contender spot up for grabs, well in most people’s eyes anyway. Everyone seems to have their definitive number one contender but it seems to change with each event. In all the mayhem of UFC 151 being canceled, and fighter after fighter saying they would have stepped up, you may have missed Alan Belcher tweeting that he was ok with Vitor Belfort taking the Jon Jones fight. Belcher revealed he has a spinal fracture and he was unfortunately going to have to pull out of their UFC 153 fight anyway. Alan said the timetable for his return will be in November, and that he wants a top 5 guy. Belcher is on a four fight win streak with impressive wins over Jason MacDonald and Rousimar Palhares.
The UFC will return to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on October 13th with UFC 153: Aldo vs. Koch. Tickets for the event will go on sale this Thursday August 23rd and the complete UFC 153 fight card has now been finalized. The card will take place at the HSBC Arena, which held the successful UFC 134 and UFC 142 events.
This past week’s action has shaken up the ranks of the UFC middleweight division. In the span of just four days, two of the top five middleweights in the world tasted defeat and the dust has yet to settle. UFC on Fox 3 took place Saturday night and the event was fantastic. The four main card fights were idealistic in terms of what you’d want a national audience to witness.
