Several fighters went missing on the UFC website list of roster yesterday, spurning speculation of their release. Typically when a fighter gets removed from the website it a precursor to them officially being released from the UFC.
Before the UFC on FUEL TV 3: Korean Zombie vs. Poirier main card airs live on FUEL TV, the six preliminary bouts streamed on Facebook. With only one fight above the lightweight division, the prelims featured the lighter weight classes along with two former Ultimate Fighter cast members in the final two bouts before heading into the UFC on FUEL TV 3 main card.
The UFC on Fuel TV 3 weigh-ins took place, today, at the Patriot Center on the campus of George Mason University, in Fairfax, VA. All 24 fighters crossed the famed UFC weigh-in stage and all were able to successfully make-weight. So, all fights are green lighted for tomorrow night on Fuel TV.
MMA fans struggling to get through the week get a boost to help them make it to the weekend Tuesday’s UFC on Fuel TV 3: Korean Zombie vs. Poirier card. The 12 bout fight card will be split in half; six preliminary fights will steam on Facebook prior to the six main card bouts that will air on FUEL TV.
Let’s be honest, Tuesdays are useless. They’re just a day removed from Monday, but too far from the end of the week to get you excited about anything. What makes them a hell of a lot better though is some prime UFC on Fuel TV bouts. Coming off the Strikeforce grand prix event last week that saw very few fighters receiving medical suspensions, every single on the UFC Fight Night 25: Battle on the Bayou card was given some form of mandatory suspensions. The majority of the competitors received a very small mandatory 7-day suspension but some of the suspensions did climb as high as 60 days.
Battle of the Bayou sounds more like something out of the civil war history book then a UFC event but nevertheless, tomorrows UFC Fight Night 25 dawns the name. The UFC returns to the big easy and the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana for the first time in over nine years. The free card will air live on Spike TV, with the undercard streaming on Facebook.
This Saturday, September 17, the UFC makes its way back to Louisiana for UFC Live: Shields vs. Ellenberger. Coming to you live from the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, the Battle on the Bayou marks the UFC’s first trip back to the Pelican State in over nine years. While this may not be a star-studded card like a few of the recent cards, it is definitely action packed from start to finish.
